Did you ever work with someone that always put you down?
At one point in my life, I worked in an office with Luanne. She was in charge of running the office, mostly because she was there the longest of everyone else.
We would all have lunch together and talk about clients and our lives outside of the office. Then little by little Luanne would talk about whoever wasn’t in the room. Usually I would make an excuse to leave like, “I have a client I have to meet.” But eventually I got the question…. “Don’t you think?”
Those dreaded 3 words that “those” people use to draw you into their “I put others down to lift myself up” world.
I’ll admit, when I was in my 20’s I used to do the same thing. It was a coping technique that I fell into a way to justify not reaching a goal. Like when I dropped out of college because “my parents wouldn’t pay for it” or “the professors don’t know what they’re teaching”. The truth was I chose to party and wanted to be a musician and wasn’t on the right path. So I put others down instead of taking 100% responsibility for my actions and choices.
Every day you have a choice.
Choose with what feels right in your heart and “gut” for your journey.
Love and Hugs,
